Safety

At Nordic Green Engineering, we can assist with all administrative processes and approvals regarding safety and working environment. These may occur in connection with the establishment of new production facilities or when expanding existing facilities – possibly due to stricter requirements.

The safety and risk domain is complex, but we will guide you through it. We help you prepare safety documentation, implement a systematic safety management system and provide an understanding of the requirements associated with approval as a Column II or III company (this approval indicates the quantity of hazardous substances stored at the facility. A Column III company therefore stores a larger amount of hazardous substances than a Column II company).

Risk

When industry or agriculture manufactures, stores or uses large quantities of toxic, flammable or explosive substances, including biogas, it can lead to serious accidents with severe consequences for people and the environment, both inside and outside the facility.

Furthermore, it must be able to demonstrate to the authorities that it has reviewed its operations and layout to identify areas where major accidents involving hazardous substances could occur. The company must also document that the probability and consequences of potential accidents are acceptable, given the safety barriers the company has or will establish. Additionally, the company must document to the Risk Authority that it is working systematically and continuously with risk-related factors.

The prevention of major accidents at facilities handling hazardous substances, as well as regulations regarding the limitation of consequences from such accidents, are covered under the Seveso III Directive (in accordance with the Risk Notification Regulations).

Preparation of risk assessment

Before constructing or expanding a gas facility or process installation, a comprehensive risk assessment must be conducted. This must take into account all reasonably foreseeable risks associated with the installation in question. This assessment should consider all reasonably foreseeable risks associated with the facility. The risk assessment forms an essential part of the documentation for the process installation. It must be updated whenever changes are made to the installation and stored alongside other documentation throughout the lifetime of the installation.

We assist companies in preparing the risk assessment through thorough consultations to ensure a clear understanding of the requirements for approval. This includes guidance on submitting notifications and commissioning reports to the Danish Safety Technology Authority, which oversees gas facilities and installations in Denmark.

Please note, however, that we do not perform risk assessments in accordance with the Machinery Directive.

Preparation of APV

A workplace assessment (APV) is a tool designed to help businesses manage their work environment through a systematic and effective approach. At Nordic Green Engineering, we assist in mapping your company’s work environment and identifying areas where changes or updates may be needed.

Specifically, we can help create an APV tailored to your business and provide insights into the processes that contribute to a healthy and safe work environment. Additionally, we can supply tools for ongoing evaluations of the work environment within your organization.

By doing so, we can help your business achieve a better work environment and improved employee well-being. Including sick leave data in the APV can make it easier to identify workplace issues that may lead to high absenteeism rates.

Development and maintenance of safety management systems

As part of overseeing both safety and the work environment, the workplace assessment (APV) can be effectively integrated with the company’s safety management system. This system consolidates the procedures that form the foundation for anticipating and preventing major accidents. By doing so, it reflects the company’s commitments to its employees and supports the desired safety culture.

Nordic Green Engineering can assist in identifying and evaluating various risks for major accidents and assigning tasks and responsibilities to employees responsible for preventing such incidents. Additionally, we can help establish and implement the procedures necessary to ensure stable and safe operations, as well as manage potential operational disruptions.

The safety management system must be maintained and updated whenever there are changes in production, expansions, reorganizations, or similar adjustments. We can support you in this process as well. At Nordic Green Engineering, we aim to help you operate and maintain your systems, ensuring they provide real value in daily operations.

Finally, we also assess risks and offer advice on environmental considerations and impacts related to the establishment and expansion of production facilities in the biogas industry and other sectors.

We believe that secure and sustainable energy is the way forward
