Documentation of sustainability
Nordic Green Engineering offers documentation of the sustainability of your company. By providing you with proof of your efforts in the area of responsibility and by being able to demonstrate traceability of raw materials and products as well as reduction of greenhouse gases throughout the value chain, we can create added value and increase the price of your company’s products.
What is sustainability certification?
The purpose of sustainability certification is to demonstrate traceability of raw materials and products. In addition, the purpose is also to demonstrate reduction of greenhouse gases (CO2, methane and nitrous oxide) throughout the entire value chain.
Nordic Green Engineering can help your company become sustainability certified.
The certification follows your sustainable product throughout the bio-based raw material value chain. It also covers types of agricultural and forestry raw materials, food, bio-based products, chemical/technical substances and other areas where practical use of biomass is possible.
Within manufacturing and service industries, sustainability certification can be used to document the company’s overall climate footprint. The documentation can be used directly with customers and in the company’s climate marketing. Certification and documentation also provide protection against “greenwashing“.
The international standards
We work with and document sustainability based on these international standards:
- ISCC PLUS
International Sustainability & Carbon Certification The international standard that follows covers the areas not covered by the Renewable Energy Directive II, such as food, feed and industrial applications. - ISCC EU
International Sustainability & Carbon Certification is a European standard that follows the Renewable Energy Directive II and is one of the most widely used in biogas, food production and general trade in raw materials. This means that many of the biomasses that are not agriculturally related, such as glycerin, are easier to feed into the system.
Our biogas specialists have extensive experience in certifying a wide range of biomasses, which means that we ensure that as many biomasses as possible are included in the certification. We are involved from start to finish, and we provide external audits both before and after certification. - Nature Made Star
Nature Made Star is a Swiss standard. Its guiding principle of continuous improvement helps a company position itself environmentally, enhances its environmental credibility and supports it in achieving its goals. Nature Made Star is recognized by the Swiss Energy Agency for Industry and the Energiestadt program. - REDCert
REDcert is also German. It offers certification schemes for sustainable biomass, biofuels and liquids (REDcert-DE and REDcert-EU) and sustainable agricultural raw materials for use in the food/feed industry and biomass for use in the chemical industry (REDcert²), respectively. REDcert’s philosophy is to support scheme participants in the implementation of sustainability certification through a practically oriented approach.
Choosing a standard?
We advise specifically on the choice of standard for the individual company, as the standards each have specific strengths in both content and geography. Regardless of the choice of standard, the company must prepare the following elements prior to a third-party audit, which Nordic Green Engineering can of course help with:
- Management manual describing the company, its organization and processes.
- Internal audit where we “pressure test” whether descriptions of processes and data handling are consistent with reality and the requirements of the standard.
- Greenhouse gas calculations where the company’s CO2 impact is continuously documented.
- Sustainability declarations.
Documentation of CO2 impact/savings at process, company or organizational level without certification
Nordic Green Engineering can help provide climate documentation to customers and authorities about your company’s environmental impact.
The requirements for reducing and documenting one’s own climate impacts have become more extensive than before. This means that it is increasingly necessary to be able to account for climate accounts, climate statements and targeted climate efforts. To avoid being accused of “greenwashing”, it is important that the documentation is based on valid, transparent data.
Our competent employees ensure that your company’s climate impact is correctly documented to customers and authorities.
